The journey to publishing "The Second of Angela"

I started writing the rough manuscript for my first novel in about 2004. It took me about a month and a half or so, at the prodding of a client who kept wanting more chapters to read. I owe her a debt of gratitude for that. When the manuscript was finished, I put it in a box to await editing. Six years later, I left for Peru, the manuscript with me in the box. Another six years later, I returned to Canada, the manuscript with me, in the box. Finally, five years later, I started editing and then published it. I now also have versions in Spanish, French, Portuguese, Italian, and German. The sequel to the novel is in process, sixteen chapters are ready, and perhaps another 9 or 10 to go. The best advice I can give anyone; is don't wait seventeen years to finish editing. :)

Empecé a escribir el borrador del manuscrito de mi primera novela alrededor de 2004. Tardé un mes y medio más o menos, a instancias de una clienta que no paraba de pedir más capítulos para leer. Estoy en deuda con ella por ello. Cuando el manuscrito estuvo terminado, lo metí en una caja a la espera de ser editado. Seis años después me fui a Perú. El manuscrito conmigo, en la caja. Otros seis años después volví a Canadá, con el manuscrito conmigo, en la caja. Finalmente, cinco años después, comencé a editarlo y luego lo publiqué. Ahora también tengo versiones en español, francés, portugués, italiano y alemán. La secuela de la novela está en proceso, dieciséis capítulos están listos, y tal vez otros nueve o diez por delante. El mejor consejo que puedo dar a alguien es que no espere diecisiete años para terminar la edición :)
